Hoening Big Bore Slug is releasing information on its second chambering based on the .410 bore, the HBBS 44-410. This chambering also fits into the S.A.M.M.I. specs for the .410 bore making it another real option for deer hunters during shotgun slug season. The leading "44" is to indicate the larger slugs that must not be used in any chambering other than the HBBS 44-410 Overbore. The "Overbore" designation should help keep owners and shooters aware of this critical information.
The photos above show left to right: The HBBS 44-410 in plastic hull and the HBBS 410 Brass case.
The lighter 300 grain .44 HBBS Heat Crimp slug next to the heavy 370 grain HBBS .410 Heat Crimp Slug.
Next is an HBBS 44-410 plastic load next to an alternative brass load (not HBBS .410 Brass).
Finally the shorter .444 Marlin brass case next to the full 2 1/2 inch HBBS 410 Brass case to show increased capacity of HBBS .410 brass.
The 300 gr plastic hull load can be custom loaded for you by Hoening Big Bore Slug LLC reloading services if you do not care to do it your self. See the HBBS Reloading Services page.
Slugs and dies are available from Hoening Big Bore South, L.L.C. as well as the HBBS 410 Heat Crimp system for superior plastic hull crimping. Three starting loads are available with velocities of 1330, 1457, and 1636 average. Barrels can be converted from existing ".44" barrels by rechambering where the current chamber is not too sloppy.
